The Skills Forex & FinTech Employers Really Want in 2026 – And How to Show Them on Your CV

Employers in Forex and FinTech are looking for more than technical skills. The strongest candidates combine industry knowledge, relevant technology capability, communication, judgement and adaptability – and demonstrate those strengths with evidence.
1. Do Not Just List Skills – Prove Them
Generic claims such as “communication skills”, “team player” and “attention to detail” tell recruiters very little because almost every CV includes them. Demonstrate the skill through what you achieved.
Instead of “Excellent communication skills”, a Compliance candidate could write: “Prepared compliance reports and presented regulatory findings and recommended actions to senior management.”
The principle is simple: evidence is stronger than adjectives.
2. Combine Your Core Profession With Technology
Financial employers increasingly seek people who combine traditional financial expertise with AI, data and technological capability. But that does not mean every Forex professional should become a programmer.
- Compliance or AML: understand automated monitoring, AI-assisted research and
- Payments: strengthen transaction data, fraud monitoring, reconciliation and payment-infrastructure knowledge.
- Finance: build stronger Excel, reporting, analytical and automation
- Dealing or Risk: combine market knowledge with data analysis and interpretation of automated
- Technology: combine technical expertise with an understanding of payments, trading, regulation or
3. Communication Is Becoming More Valuable, Not Less
Recent CFA Institute research found that finance managers see soft skills such as communication, collaboration and teamwork as a major gap among new professionals. In regulated financial services, these skills are essential because people must explain risks, decisions and complex information clearly.
Before your next interview, prepare two or three real situations where your communication changed an outcome.
4. Make Your Industry Knowledge Visible
A general Accountant and an Accountant who understands brokerage reconciliations and regulated financial services are not necessarily interchangeable. The same applies to technology, marketing, legal, payments and operations.
If you already have Forex or FinTech experience, make it obvious. Mention relevant experience with CySEC, MiFID II, AML/CFT, MiCA, PSPs, EMIs, trading platforms, liquidity providers, payment processing or regulatory reporting where applicable.
5. Prepare a 30-Second Professional Story
Candidates should be able to explain their professional value without reciting their entire CV. A strong answer to “Tell me about yourself” should quickly explain what you do, where you have done it, what you specialise in and where you want to go next.
Example: “I have spent the last five years in compliance within CySEC-regulated investment firms, mainly covering AML, regulatory monitoring and CySEC reporting. I am now looking for a role where I can take broader responsibility and continue developing toward a senior
compliance position.”
