On behalf of our client, a well-established international brokerage and financial services group, we are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant to join their growing team in Nicosia.
Operating across multiple international markets, the company provides trading and investment services to a global client base through a regulated and technology-driven environment. As part of its continued growth, the company is seeking a hands-on accounting professional to support its finance operations, banking and payment reconciliations, payroll processes, and financial reporting activities.
 

The Role

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the day-to-day finance function, ensuring the accurate maintenance of accounting records, timely reconciliations, payroll processing, and support of month-end and year-end reporting requirements.
The successful candidate will have strong experience within a brokerage, fintech, payment institution, EMI, or regulated financial services environment and will be comfortable working with multiple banking partners, payment providers, and multi-currency transactions.
 

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledger entries
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Prepare accounting journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial statements
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and company accounting policies

 

Banking, PSP & Reconciliations

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations across multiple banking institutions
  • Perform daily reconciliations of PSPs, EMIs, and payment providers
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing payments and settlements
  • Liaise with banks, payment institutions, and service providers regarding payment-related matters
  • Support treasury activities through cash balance monitoring and reporting

 

Payroll Administration

  • Prepare and process monthly payroll accurately and on time
  • Calculate salaries, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and statutory contributions
  • Liaise with HR and external providers regarding payroll matters
  • Ensure compliance with local payroll, tax, and social insurance requirements
  • Prepare payroll reconciliations and supporting reports

 

Audit & Compliance

  • Assist external auditors during annual audits
  • Support regulatory and statutory reporting requirements
  • Maintain supporting documentation and accounting records
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial procedures

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Finance, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Management teams
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, payment institutions, and service providers
  • Support finance-related projects and process improvement initiatives

 

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
  • Previous experience within a brokerage, fintech, payment institution, EMI, or regulated financial services environment
  • Strong experience with bank reconciliations, PSP reconciliations, and multi-currency transactions
  • Experience processing and managing payroll
  • Good understanding of IFRS and accounting principles
  • Experience working with banks, EMIs, payment providers, and financial institutions
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently

 

Highly Desirable

  • ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent qualification (completed or in progress)
  • Previous experience within an online brokerage or trading services environment
  • Experience with MT4/MT5 reporting and operational reconciliations
  • Knowledge of client money and safeguarding reconciliations
  • Experience supporting CySEC-regulated entities
  • Exposure to treasury operations and liquidity reporting
  • Experience with accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms

 

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Monthly Gross Salary: €3,500 – €4,500 (depending on experience and qualifications)

This role is focused on accounting, payroll, banking and payment reconciliations, financial reporting, and operational finance within a regulated financial services environment.
