Historic performance from Andreas Iakovou: Five podiums in one weekend in Slovakia

Andreas Iakovou completed one of the most important racing weekends of his career at the Slovakia Ring, claiming five podium finishes in two days across the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship and the BMU  European Road Racing Championship.

On Saturday, the Cypriot rider from the FxCareer.eu Racing Team celebrated the first win of his career in the BMU’s STK600 class, while also taking 3rd place in SSP600 and 4th place in Alpe Adria’s STK600.

Sunday brought three more podiums: 2nd place in BMU’s STK600, 3rd place in SSP600, and, the highlight of the weekend, 2nd place in Alpe Adria’s STK600.

That last result carries special significance for Cypriot motorcycling. According to the team’s available data, it marks the first-ever podium appearance by a Cypriot rider in that specific Alpe Adria class, adding a historic dimension to the achievement.

Iakovou said the 2nd place in Alpe Adria had been a personal goal he’d been chasing for a long time, adding that the important thing was proving they can be competitive against the frontrunners, and that they now know they can fight for top positions.

Technical support from Zenone Racing was also significant, while the backing of FxCareer.eu, the rider’s main sponsor via the FxCareer.eu Racing Team, remains key to his international racing presence.

The success at the Slovakia Ring confirms the continued racing progress of the Cypriot rider and strengthens Cyprus’ presence in international motorsport.
