On behalf of our client, an established international group in the trading and financial services sector, we are currently looking for a Senior Accounting Officer to join their finance team in Limassol. The position is based within the group’s service provider entity.

The successful candidate will take ownership of complex accounting tasks, review the work of junior colleagues, and act as a key contact for external auditors and business partners. The role requires solid corporate accounting experience, sound technical judgement and a collaborative approach.

Main Responsibilities

Your main duties will include:

• Overseeing and reviewing daily bookkeeping, including supplier invoices, bank transactions and monthly customer invoicing.
• Preparing and reviewing complex monthly journal entries, including amortisation, depreciation and right-of-use asset entries.
• Reviewing weekly bank reconciliations and bank balance reports, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Overseeing supplier reconciliations, signing them off before payment runs, and managing the year-end supplier reconciliation process.
• Preparing and reviewing month-end accounting reports, including commentary and analysis for the Financial Reporting Manager and Financial Controller/Deputy CFO.
• Reviewing scheduled client funds reconciliation reports and ensuring compliance with applicable client money rules.
• Acting as a main point of contact for external auditors and business partners, coordinating information requests and resolving queries.
• Preparing and reviewing supporting schedules for VAT returns and liaising with tax advisers where required.
• Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements and other technical reporting requirements.
• Providing guidance to junior accounting staff and reviewing their work when required.
• Contributing to process improvements and strengthening internal controls within the accounting function.
• Leading or supporting ad hoc accounting projects and requests from the finance management team.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• At least five years’ experience in a similar accounting role, with solid exposure to a corporate environment.
• Sound working knowledge of IFRS and month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas and spreadsheet modelling.
• Proven ability to review and guide the work of junior team members.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a professional and collaborative approach.

This position is intended for experienced accounting professionals who do not hold ACA or ACCA qualifications. Preference will be given to candidates who are not currently pursuing further professional accountancy accreditation.

The following experience would be an advantage:

• Xero, Oracle or similar accounting/ERP systems.
• An international business, forex/CFD brokerage or the wider financial services industry.

Working Days and Hours

• Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00.
• Full-time on-site in Limassol.
