Volity is building a financial platform for trading, investing and payments. Our South African businessoperates through an FSCA-authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP).
We need an experienced Category I Key Individual who has done this work before. This is a working

regulatory role with ongoing responsibility for the financial services activities the individual is approved to manage and oversee.

Mandate

You will carry the management and oversight responsibilities that come with Key Individual approval under FAIS. You will work with the board and Compliance to keep the FSP within its approved licence scope and make sure the operating controls work in practice.


What you will do

• Manage and oversee the FSP's regulated activities within the categories and product subcategories for which you are approved.
• Keep the FSP operationally capable and make sure the required competence, controls, records and oversight are in place.
• Oversee representatives and any services under supervision. Check competence, authorisation status, controls and any material gaps that need action.
• Review new products, client journeys, distribution arrangements and material business changes against the FSP's licence scope before they go live.
• Work with Compliance on breaches and control weaknesses, agree practical remediation and follow issues through to closure.
• Take part in licence amendments, regulatory submissions, inspections, handovers and FSCA communications where KI involvement is required.
• Keep your own ongoing competence and CPD obligations current and properly evidenced.
• Give the board clear reporting on material regulatory, operational and representative oversight issues.

• You live in South Africa and will remain ordinarily based in the country while holding the appointment. This is a
• Volity requirement. You must also be eligible for FSCA approval as a Category I Key Individual.
• At least one year of experience managing or overseeing the rendering of financial services by a Category I
• FSP. Current or recent KI approval is strongly preferred.
• An FSCA-recognised qualification appropriate to the Category I role and licence scope, successful completion of RE1, and the applicable Class of Business training.
• You must meet the remaining fit and proper requirements, including honesty, integrity and good standing, operational ability, and ongoing competence and CPD obligations.
• You should also be comfortable working directly with the FAIS Act, the General Code of Conduct and the FSCA Fit and Proper Requirements.
• Your experience includes direct supervision of regulated activities and representatives. Purely advisory or policy experience on its own is not enough.
• You make clear decisions, keep good records and are willing to stop or change a commercial proposal when it falls outside the regulatory boundary.

• Category I experience relevant to trading, investment or multi-asset financial services. Experience in Category
• II, IIA or III FSPs is also useful where it is relevant to the products.
• CFDs, forex, securities, crypto-asset financial products, wealth or investment platforms.
• FSP licence amendments, changes of KI, remediation, compliance monitoring or FSCA inspections.

• You will join while the South African operating model is still being shaped and will be involved in the practical decisions behind it.
• The KI will work closely with product, operations, compliance and management. Regulatory judgement will affect what we launch and how we run it.
• We want someone who will actively perform the KI function and can explain the decisions made under their oversight.
