Compliance Officer/AMLCO
On behalf of our client, a CySEC regulated investment firm based in Paphos, we are currently looking for a Compliance Officer/AMLCO to join their team.
The successful candidate will support the Company’s Compliance and AMLC functions in ensuring that the Company complies with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, internal policies, procedures, and industry standards. The role includes responsibilities related to regulatory compliance, AML/CFT oversight, client due diligence, monitoring activities, and internal controls. This role requires strong attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to work closely with internal departments and senior management.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Acting as Compliance Officer and AMLCO, overseeing day-to-day compliance and AML/CFT matters and ensuring the effective implementation of the Company’s regulatory framework.
- Conducting desk-based reviews, inspections, and compliance and AML monitoring checks and client files reviews.
- Reviewing internal procedures, controls, and records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Preparing and submitting monthly, annual, and ad-hoc regulatory reports as well as internal management reporting, when required.
- Handling communication and correspondence with regulatory authorities, including CySEC and MOKAS, where required.
- Drafting, reviewing, and updating compliance and AML/CTF policies, procedures, manuals and internal controls.
- Monitoring regulatory developments and supporting the assessment of their impact on the Company.
- Liaising with internal departments to ensure procedures are properly followed and controls are effectively implemented.
- Reviewing website content, marketing material, and client communications from a compliance perspective.
- Performing KYC, client on-boarding, suitability, appropriateness, and product governance checks where applicable, including client due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), source of funds/wealth reviews, and ongoing monitoring procedures.
- Maintaining compliance records, registers, reports, and internal documentation including AML registers, suspicious activity logs, and due diligence documentation.
- Identifying and escalating compliance issues, breaches, weaknesses, or areas of concern including potential suspicious transactions or activities.
- Investigating and assessing suspicious transactions and preparing internal AML reports and regulatory filings where necessary.
- Delivering and supporting training and awareness programs for staff.
- Conducting the annual AML and Compliance risk assessment and monitoring the effectiveness of controls and procedures.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- University degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a compliance role within financial services, investment firms, Forex/CFD, fintech, or a similar regulated environment.
- Good understanding of CySEC regulatory requirements and compliance principles and AML/CFT laws, directives, and regulatory expectations.
- CySEC Advanced and AML Certification required.
- Experience with regulatory reporting, compliance and AML monitoring, policies, and internal controls.
- Strong knowledge of AML, KYC, client due diligence, suitability, and marketing compliance.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Greek will be considered an advantage.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Ability to independently manage compliance and AML responsibilities and handle sensitive regulatory matters with professionalism and sound judgment.
