Cape Town, South Africa

  Expires in 30 days
   Apply Before:  November 8, 2026

Volity is building a financial platform for trading, investing and payments. In South Africa, the business operates through an FSCA-authorised FSP.

We are looking for a senior compliance professional who knows how to turn regulation into controls people can actually use. The role covers conduct compliance and AML/CFT and will work closely with the board, Key Individual and management.

Mandate

You will run the local compliance framework and coordinate the FSP's AML/CFT work. The final governance structure will determine whether you also hold the formal FAIS Compliance Officer or section 42A FIC Act compliance function. Those formal appointments will be defined separately from the job title.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain the compliance monitoring programme around the FSP's licence scope, products, clientsand distribution model.
  • Advise the board, KI and management on FAIS and FSCA requirements, regulatory changes, and the compliance impact of new products or business changes.
  • Maintain the compliance risk assessment, breach and incident registers, regulatory calendar, monitoring records and remediation tracking.
  • Oversee the AML/CFT framework, including the RMCP, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, sanctions and PEP controls, ongoing monitoring and escalation of unusual activity.
  • Prepare or review regulatory reports, notifications and responses that fall within the role, and make sure deadlines are met.
  • Review marketing, client communications, complaints, outsourcing arrangements and operating procedures where there is a conduct or financial crime risk.
  • Report material compliance and AML/CFT issues clearly to the board and management.
  • Run or coordinate compliance training and make sure issues are documented and escalated early.

What we need

  • You live in South Africa and will remain ordinarily based in the country while holding the appointment. This is a Volity requirement. You also need substantial compliance experience in an FSCA-regulated financial services business.
  • If you are to hold the formal FAIS Compliance Officer appointment, you must be able to meet the FSCA approval criteria, including an FSCA-recognised qualification and at least three years of experience in a compliance or risk management function, with experience relevant to Category I FSPs. Current or previous Compliance Officer approval is strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAIS, the FSCA framework, FICA, AML/CFT controls, KYC/CDD/EDD and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience dealing directly with boards, senior management, regulators, auditors and external advisers.
  • You can challenge a commercial or product decision when needed, then help the team find a compliant way forward.
  • You keep clear evidence and records, handle sensitive information carefully, and can work independently from the commercial teams you monitor.

Useful experience

  • Brokerage, CFDs, forex, securities, investment platforms, crypto-asset financial products or cross-border payments.
  • Building or materially upgrading a compliance monitoring programme or RMCP.
  • Regulatory applications, licence amendments, inspections, thematic reviews, remediation or formal board reporting.

The role

  • The control framework is still being built, so the person joining will help decide how compliance works day today.
  • The role has direct access to the board, KI and group management.
  • We are looking for someone who can be firm on the rules without becoming remote from the business. The best outcome is a control that works, can be tested and stands up to regulatory scrutiny.
