This week, our India office came alive with vibrant colors, traditional attire, and festive cheer as we celebrated Onam, one of the most cherished festivals of Kerala. Onam is much more than a harvest festival; it is a celebration of culture, unity, and prosperity that brings people together, regardless of background or belief.

Rooted in legend, Onam commemorates the homecoming of King Mahabali, a beloved ruler known for his generosity and fairness. According to tradition, the people of Kerala honor him each year with grand festivities to welcome his spirit back among them. The festival also coincides with the harvest season, marking a time of gratitude for abundance and blessings.

One of the most iconic aspects of Onam is the Pookalam, an intricate floral carpet created with vibrant flowers, symbolizing harmony and joy. Homes and workplaces are decorated with these beautiful designs, filling the atmosphere with warmth and togetherness. Another highlight is the Onam Sadhya, a traditional vegetarian feast served on a banana leaf, featuring a variety of flavorful dishes that celebrate the richness of Kerala’s culinary heritage.
